Buon pomeriggio gente! Vi riporto di seguito la recensione che ho fatto per inglese, ma siccome si tratta di una delle mie opere preferite ve la lascio di seguito.
Nike
of Samonthrace
The
Nike of Samonthrace
was made by Pitocrito in 200 B.C. The
name derives from the greek language: Νίκη, it meant 'Goddess
of Victory'.
It's
a sculpture in
marmo pario and it's approximately 245 cm high. This sculpture shows
a young winged goddess, Pallas' daughter, announcing military
victories, while it is placed in the bow of a battleship. This young
girl is like she was hit by a strong wind. She is shown leaning
forward, and the dynamism of the drapery, that adheres to the sinous
body, accentuates the idea of moviment.
We
can guess that the right arm was lowered along the body while resting
the adjacent foot railing the ship. Instead, the left arm is slightly
raised as if she were saying goodbye.
This
is an exemple of art in Hellenistic Age, during The Great Alexandre's
Empire.
This
statue was found in Samonthrace, an island of the Aegean Sea in 1863,
amorphus and without arms.
The
work is currently in the Louvre Museum in Paris. It Sets on a clever,
because it stands majestically on top of the staircase that connects
the Galerie d'Apollon and the Salon Carré.
